Hippos, scientifically known as Hippopotamus amphibius, are incredibly fascinating creatures with several unique features. Despite their massive size, hippopotamuses are actually closely related to whales and dolphins, making them the closest land-dwelling relatives of these marine mammals. These herbivorous animals are primarily found in sub-Saharan Africa, both in rivers and lakes. Surprisingly, despite their aquatic nature, hippos can't swim! Instead, they propel themselves underwater by walking or running on their toes, just like they do on land. With their impressive muscular structure and large jaws armed with formidable tusks, hippos are responsible for more human deaths in Africa each year than any other large animal. However, don't be fooled by their aggressive reputation. Hippos are intelligent, social animals that live in groups, and they are also known to display affectionate behaviors, such as grooming each other or even nuzzling their offspring around.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water. Do not leave outside. Do not leave on or near a heat source such as a radiator.

As all animals are hand carved and hand painted, they are each unique. This is part of the beauty and value of Wudimals. There will always be very slight variations in fine details, so no one else in the world has exactly the same animal as you!
